Welcome to my blog—That Multilingual Family in London!

(A title chosen quite on a whim.. and one that might change at some point!)

We are a multilingual family of three living in London, and I am the mum behind it all, navigating languages, cultures, and the everyday chaos of family life.

I’ve been living in the UK for 13 years now, since I first arrived as a graduate student. Along the way, and quite unexpectedly, I met my partner in Germany, and together we eventually settled in our beloved London.

Our family grew, and now we have a four-year-old daughter who brings so many vibrant colours into our lives.

Becoming a mum is a life-changing experience in itself. But raising a child outside your home country—away from your family and culture —adds another layer. Even more so when your partner comes from a different background, and you’re both building a family far from everything familiar, without a support network to fall back on.

So here I am, sharing my journey as an expat mum in my second home, London, with a partner who speaks a different language, and a child whose life experience may be very different from my own.

I’ll be writing about multilingual parenting, life between cultures, and the everyday realities of raising a child in London, sharing tips, experiences, and little things I wish I had known earlier.

If any of this resonates with you, you’re in the right place.

Welcome aboard!
